Senior Program Manager
Microsoft Learning Services Group is looking for an experienced Senior Program Manager who is passionate about creating the best in class online learning experiences for customers and partners. You will be part of a team who is chartered to create learning services & solutions that touch millions of people who want to learn about Microsoft products. We are working on multiple efforts to innovate and differentiate the Microsoft learning offerings from our competitors. We are looking to engage users with new technologies like WPF, Live mesh, Silverlight and cutting edge web technologies.
We expect you to contribute to the team, and help envision, specify, and manage features and systems, not just drive the implementation of the projects. We’re looking for exceptional PMs inside and outside of Microsoft - you need to be smart, highly motivated, results oriented, and a self-starter who thrives in a bottoms-up, fast paced, highly technical environment, and who can work with multiple technologies and partners, and who wants to win and be the leader in the web today to help customers to learn. You will need proven cross-discipline and cross-team skills working with developers, testers, UX, and partners, from vision setting through execution and delivery of next-generation products & services.
Job Responsibilities:
Develop functional specifications for interfaces and services. Work with development and test teams to ensure the specifications are developed and tested in a timely fashion and meet the business needs. Review business change requests, provide cost/schedule estimate and then implement the solutions either directly through systems configuration or indirectly by working with internal and external development groups through the development of functional and technical specifications.
This role requires someone who can use data to improve the user experience, can partner effectively with business teams, and has a mastery of core PM skills.
Qualifications:
8 plus years of experience in implementing technology solutions including 5 plus years as a Program Manager in building online services.
Technical and Communication - Excellent technical and communication, spec’ing, and presentation skills. Demonstrable proficiency at delivering high quality functional specifications is required
Initiative - Easily recognized as a self-motivated and independent thinker that routinely translates circumstances and understanding into actions that move the business forward in a measurable manner.
Shipping - Have a proven track record of shipping & delivering quality software, and excellent user experiences, consistently and on-time.
Data driven - Demand and drive validation and development of recommendations based on business and usage data, usability studies, customer input and metrics, as well as an ability to define and capture new data needs.
Proven relationship building skills with experience managing multiple partner priorities and needs in internet time.
Strong understanding of Microsoft virtualization technologies (HYPER V), SQL, ASP.net, MOSS 2007, WPF.
Previous experience of implanting solutions on MS virtualization technologies is desired.
Deep understanding of online services platforms including online commerce and payment gateways, Catalog services including publishing and RSS feeds, Web site performance optimization and monitoring is desired.
